Instagram and Pinterest iced decorated cookies can intimidate me! You too? I absolutely love scrolling through all of the FaNcY painted cookies but somehow missed the gene on how to hold the icing tips and paint brush. I say somehow because my mom, brother, and sister all have art majors and are talented painters. Alas, there is hope for me, I was a food and nutrition major so let's just say I can bake a delicious cookie! AND send me help in decorating the cookies! In walks in, I mean rolls in The Embossed Rolling Pin! Whew! What a rescue!

"Unique Embossed Rolling Pin" ~ The Embossed Rolling Pins is made from 100% pure high-grade solid beech wood and are 100% food-safe and free of BPA and other toxic preservatives. A coat of natural, food-safe oil (olive oil) is applied by hand to seal and preserve the wood. The embossed rolling pins are standard size: approximately 17.5 inches long (with the handles) and 2 inches in diameter, with the engraved rolling portion measuring 9.5 inches long. "Transform Your Baking into Works of Art" ~ Well, hallelujah someone has heard for cry in the cookie and baked goods department. I will say I felt very accomplished and proud of my embossed cookies and pie crust.
"Add Magic to Your Baking" ~ I sense a connection with my mom, grandmas, and great-grandmas when I am pressing down on a rolling pin into a soft dough.... and then to turnaround and demonstrate that same action to my granddaughters...there is something "magical".
May your creativity be unleashed! I received the embossed rolling pin and immediately my mind went wild with how baked goods could be embossed! I envisioned my paisley embossed pattern on cookies, shortbread, homemade pastry crust, store bought frozen pie dough, fondant, and pasta! I love #pettyfood!

Embossed Chocolate Chili Wafers
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baker’s cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground Guajillo chile or ancho chile powder toy
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup shortening, room temperature
1/2 cup salted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons grated orange zest or desired amount
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla paste or extract
LINE a cookie sheet with parchment or use a non-stick cookie sheet.
COMBINE flour, cocoa, baking powder, cinnamon, chile powder, salt, and cloves; mix until well combined. Set aside.
CREAM shortening, butter, sugar, and orange zest until creamy.
ADD eggs and vanilla to butter and mix until well combined.
ADD flour mixture,1/4-cup at a time, beating well between each cup.
WRAP dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate 2-3 hours or overnight.
REMOVE dough from refrigerator. Once dough is just soft enough to roll place on lightly floured work surface.
ROLL dough with standard rolling pin to 1/4-inch thick.
COAT Embossing rolling pin with flour. PRESS embossing rolling pin firmly to imprint dough with design. Note: I like to continue to sprinkle the rolling pin with flour, as I am pushing the rolling pin along the dough, without lifting the rolling pin.
CUT dough with floured cookie cutters.
BAKE cookies at 400°F degrees F for 10-14 minutes. COOL cookies on wire racks. Yields: 2 1/2 dozens
