TASTE TESTING TIME:

I love fresh ingredients, and that is what Sam’s Fresh Salsa is all about! Sam’s Salsa is Clean Label certified…and you can taste the freshness! The salsa is produced with no artificial ingredients, no preservatives, and no additives.

Usually, I find store bought salsa verde have too much spicy heat. Sam’s Salsa Verde was super clean tasting and balanced, without excess spiciness. You must understand, I am known for my salsa verde. Why heck, I even got to make Salsa Verde with Homemade Tortilla Chips on the Rachael Ray show once! Pinch Me! Enough talk about ME let’s talk about Sam’s Fresh Salsa!

Here are the ingredients in Sam’s Salsa Verde Salsa: tomatillos, garlic, onions, lime juice, organic blue agave, jalapeños peppers, salt. (Oh my goodness, those are my exact ingredients when making salsa verde minus the agave and adding cilantro!) A wonderful salsa to brighten flank steak, chicken and scrambled eggs.

Sam’s Fresh Cantina Style Salsa: tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, salt, citric acid, onions, garlic, jalapeño peppers, lime juice, salt, cilantro, and ground cumin. Fresh! Bright! And not Spicy! Delicious on pork, nachos, Mexican pizza, and Bloody Mary’s!

Sam’s Fresh Watermelon Jicama: watermelon, jicama, distilled white vinegar, jalapeños peppers, red onions, cilantro, salt, and citric acid. Now this salsa shocked me…I will confess I thought I would not like it. Sam’s Fresh Watermelon Jicama Salsa is super fresh, not too sweet, and simply fun! I highly recommend it on fish, pork and in gazpacho!

SUSTAINABILITY:

I love that in 2014 F&S Produce Co., a manufacturer and marketer of fresh-cut produce and other refrigerated value-added products in the Northeast United States introduced Sam’s Fresh Salsa. The company cares not only about the end product but about the environment in which the ingredients grow. They have extensive programs in place to renew the land, and reduce, re-use and recycle materials. Their comprehensive strategy includes innovative initiatives in vegetative waste composting, water conservation, energy conservation, and recycling programs! WHY YOU WILL LOVE

Salsa Verde Quiche with Cantina Style Salsa Hash Brown Crust

  1. It’s a SHOWSTOPPER, delicious, and fun to make! It really is easy because Sam’s Fresh has done almost all of the seasoning of the hash brown crust and the egg filling.

  2. It’s tasty! Every time I have served this dish, diners look down, cock their heads and say, “This sure is good.” “Not sure what’s in here but it is so flavorful.” “Is it hard to make, can I have the recipe.” For REALS ~ those are the comments!

  3. Leftovers are easy to reheat: A 9-inch quiche makes 8-10 servings. If you are so lucky to have leftovers, a slice of quiche will reheat in the microwave in 1 minute.

  4. You can change up the filling ingredients by trading ham for bacon and parley for cilantro. Your could add marinated artichoke hearts, fresh or sun-dried tomatoes, black or green olives, or and flavor of cheese you want.

  5. Dairy free? No problem, simple substitute dairy free products for the cream and cheese.

  6. Is this gluten free? YES! Hash Browns without flour is what the crust is made from!

  7. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner!

LET'S MAKE

Salsa Verde Quiche with Cantina Style Salsa Hash Brown Crust

Ingredients:

For CANTINA STYLE SALSA HASH BROWN CRUST:

1/3 cup Sam’s Cantina Style Salsa

30 ounces frozen hash browns, thawed, squeeze liquid out

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

6 slices crispy bacon, minced

3/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic

FOR FILLING

1/3 cup Sam’s Fresh Salsa Verde Salsa

6 large eggs

1/3 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

1/4 cup chopped green onions

2 tablespoons chopped cilantro

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

4 slices crispy bacon, chop 1/2-inch pieces

FOR GARNISH: Sam’s Fresh Catina Style Salsa, Sam’s Fresh Salsa Verde Salsa, chopped green onion, and cilantro and/or cilantro microgreens.

Instructions:

GREASE an 9-inch springform pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

Pan Substitution: Any 2.5 to 3 quarts casserole dish that has been completely lined and overlapped with foil or parchment paper.

COMBINE Sam’s Cantina Style Salsa, hash browns, cheddar cheese, bacon, salt, and granulated garlic. Pat onto the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pan. Place pan into freezer for 30 minutes or if needed overnight.

Tip: Buy a package of precooked bacon! Look for a package with 9-10 slices!

PREHEAT oven to 425°F. Place frozen crust in oven and par-bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven.

ADJUST oven heat to 375°F.

WHISK Sam’s Fresh Salsa Verde Salsa, cream, salt, and coriander.

STIR in green onions, cilantro, both cheeses, and chopped bacon.

POUR egg mixture into par-baked hash brown crust.

BAKE in center of oven 40 -45 minutes or until set in the center. Cool 10 minutes. Run a knife, along the inside edges of the pan, to loosen hash brown crust. Remove sides of pan and carefully transfer quiche off of parchment paper onto a serving platter or use the bottom of the pan as a serving plate.

Tip: If you want a crispier crust, remove the springform pan’s sides and bake for 10 more minutes.

GARNISH: For a fun and festive look, top half of the quiche with Sam’s Fresh Cantina Style Salsa, and the other half with Sam’s Salsa Verde Salsa. Sprinkle with green onions, and cilantro and/or cilantro microgreens.

Serves: 8-10

Slices of red and green salsa topped hash brown quiche.
